  1. my region code is now locked ive used up all the changes i have. i have a new imac g5 superdrive. Now it wont let me use vlc to open discs in region 2 either. Is this permanent, ive just erased my harddrive and reinstalled, should i be able to use vlc to watch dvds not in the region my dvd drive is locked on?

i also downloaded a version of xine player hich wouldnt do it either. ive been told that the only option is to get the drive replaced, and also that vlc should still work even when the drive is locked. help.

you might look around for a hacked firmware of the g5 superdrive (what is it really?) that will allow you to reset the number of changes left..

i would suggest anydvd or dvdidle, they bypass all of that so you dont have to make changes to your drive firmware to watch out of region movies.. but thats for PC only..

you might be able to rip the dvd's to your hard drive, i know with dvd decrypter it will remove all protections/region coding/macrovision.. you might see if there is a good mac dvd ripper that can accomodate this.

From what i've heard hacking your drive firmware can cause lots of troubles and so generally drives changed too many times are locked for ever. Best do the rip to your hard disk
