  1. I was backing up a dvd and it fails at about 67% of hte encoding process.
    It says cyclic redundance check.
then says encountered error and needs to close.
Does anyone have any info on this error massage?
    Thanks

  2. That message usually indicates a scratched or dirty disc. However, I've encountered at least one brand new disc that gave me that error. Neither my DVD+R drive nor my DVD-ROM would rip it. I solved the problem by ripping on my brother's DVD+R drive (it was a different brand).

That being said, try to rip it to the hard drive first using DVD Decrypter, then compress it with Shrink. If you have access to another DVD drive, give it a shot.

  4. If DVD Decrypter fails, try DVD FAB Decrypter. It's a bit slower, but it helped me when I got the same type of error and both DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter couldn't rip.
