  1. I have 2 .bin movie files each with their own .cue file sitting on my mac.

Just wondering how i view them?

Must i burn them first or can i convert them to quicktime/whatever and watch them on my desktop?

I downloaded vcdgear1.6d and macpack4 and played around a little but nothing worked so far.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

  2. The .BIN/.CUE files are "disc images" that must be buned to a cd first. The movie information is imbedded in the .BIN file. I don't know of any utility that will extract the video information from it.

In Toast 5, you just drag a .BIN file to the toast window and burn as a CD-ROM XA format.

In Toast 4, you need both the .cue and .bin files. But, I vagely remember that you have to edit the .cue file in some way to get it to burn properly.

  3. Just download VCDGear from this site, in the utilities section and such.. and before you do anything, you gotta edit the cue to make sure its not set to the other persons hard drive, so open .cue with notepad, and if the .cue is called (sample01.cue), make sure it says that in the notepad, if there is a C:\ or D:\ or whatever before the filename in the .cue, then delete it and make it say sample01.cue or else when u try to convert it it will give you an error... well anyways what it does is it converts the bin/cue to an mpg. then u just delete the bin and cue and you got the mpg. and if you want the bin and cue back, then either dont delete the bin and cue afetr coverting, or if you did, than just get VCDIMAGERGUI and convert the bin and cue to mpeg again....thats when cue in notepad says C:\ or whatever cause when u convert the mpeg to bin it says the name of the directory you converted it to....well i am no rookie and this might sound confusing but just read it over and over till you get it, ok thnxs buy

  4. My problem is that the MPEG file that I get from using -bin2mpg in VCDGear does not work in Quicktime and I want to combine 3 .bins into 1 file so that I can burn a single DVD.

    Is there a better way?

  5. VCDGear X or VCDTools will extract the mpegs from the bins. You could then paste together the mpegs using mpegtxwrap or some program like ffmpegx or mpeg2 works.
•You could view the bins in VLC or MPLayer if all you wanted to do was watch them.
•You can use toast 6 to burn the bin/cue's as separate discs just use the copy tab and select bin/cue and drop the cue sheet onto the window.
•You could use Sizzle to create a DVD by selecting the mpegs you ripped with VCDGear X.
•You could put them in a folder and use FFMpegX's (s)vcd>DVD option under the tools tab.
•Finally you could follow Galactica's Tutorial and have your DVD.

you can view .bin files directly in VLC just drag/drop on the icon and its watchable

otherwise it sounds like you now know what to do with them

  8. I really don't think my DVD player is running a copy of VLC and I also don't want to have to keep changing the file.

my reply wasnt direct to you specifically

for your case you need to see why they are not playing in quicktime.

if they are SVCD .bin/.cue it wont play unless you have quicktime mpeg2 component

extract, verify the mpeg's play in VLC
if they do no problems then you can continue with your quest
you dont have to join mpeg's to make a dvd

    but mpgtxwrap will join them

suggestion is to then demux and remux the final large file because you may get time code errors that prevent things down the line

  10. In a related vein ...

Has anyone encountered this type of problem with SVCDs on Macs?

I downloaded the Centropy version of Fahrenheit 9/11. It comes on 2 SVCD's; 2 sets of .bin/.cue files. (Flame retardant: Michael Moore said it was OK )
You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning. Come on now, you know downloading videos not yet released is against the rules here.

  12. This is all I have to say on the matter:

If it were any other movie, I would not have mentioned the title.

    Please read

    http://www.sundayherald.com/43167

The activist, author and director told the Sunday Herald that, as long as pirated copies of his film were not being sold, he had no problem with it being downloaded.

“I don’t agree with the copyright laws and I don’t have a problem with people downloading the movie and sharing it with people as long as they’re not trying to make a profit off my labour. I would oppose that,” he said.
Guess I'll have to figure it out myself. Sheesh.

  13. You know, I haven't found a problem with svcd .bin/.cue files since I got Toast 6. Just select Copy and the bin/cue radio button and voila! Drop in the cue sheet and burn baby burn. Now go watch Uncovered and Outfoxed as well, and get yourself in a good, old-fashioned, frothing angry lather. I would also suggest reading What's the Matter with Kansas, because it has the best analysis on what makes us a country so geographically divided. Now whether you are a blue or a red stater, become informed and vote in November.
