got 128mb memory with 233 speed and bought another 512mb with 400 speed. can i insert them both in my memory slots? the tech told me that inserting both might result in pc crash or a more slow computer...i remove the 128mb and inserted the 512...but i dont know what to do with the 128mb i think it's a waste if ill just throw it away since i can't sell it.

  2. although i'm far from being an expert in this area, i suggest that the memory will run as fast as the slowest ram module, in this case 233. 512MB is just about the minimum these days, and i suspect that 640MB running slow would be worse than 512MB running faster. Just run a couple of diagnostic software tests on each config to see which one is best is about the best advice i could give you.

IF your system allows you to mix then yes, they will run at the slowest speed. I would toss it or donate it, but I would not use it.
