  1. Virtual Dub opens my avi files OK but then playing them back it skips, studders and the audio sounds distorted and out of sync. These avi files play fine in other players such as MS Media Player, VLC, etc..

Are there some setting I can play with in VirtualDub to try and fix this?

Virtualdub does this for me also when I load DV-AVI, but it never seems to affect the output. I tend to edit by vision rather than noise because of this. You can use the --> arrow to step frames singularly, or use Alt + --> to step 50 frames at a time.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. VirtualDub is not optimized for playback. It's for editing, filtering, encoding.
