For some time now I've been trying to convert old videos to DVDs.
I initially used a Miglia Directors Cut and a JVC video with s-video out.
Sometimes the video would gradually 'wash out' all the light to mid range colours. A rewind kicks it back to normal but leads to a great deal of otherwise unnecessary editing.
The display is fine on the TV I'm monitoring from - it's just in the viewer of whatever programme I'm capturing with.
I tried different cables to no avail, different macs, I eventually bought another video - a Sony and the Formac TVR, different combinations of the piles of cables I've collected, different programmes for capturing - the lot, now almost two years since I started I've managed to do two tapes and it still happens.
Has anyone experienced this? - I emailed Miglia ages ago and they never heard of the problem.
Given the various different hardware/software setups I can't see this just being a one off.
Hope someone knows what I'm talking about…
Cheers.
Oh - I should say that capturing directly from a TV signal is perfect, especially the freeview digibox, it's just VHS Tapes, from old commercial to new non-commercial, TV recordings, whatever - all the same thing happening.
