Why does DV (AVI Files) look like crap on my computer but gr

After I capture video from my camera as DV Type 1 AVi file, and play it in Windows Media Player, it look horrible. Thats a face. There is no clearness to it, its greainy, streamy...etc

I could edit and change around this video, then send it back to my camera, and watch it on a TV, and it looks great.

But HOW can I turn that huge avi file into something that plays decently on a computer, kinda of like a Hollywood DVD that plays on computer. It actually looks crisp and clear on my computer???????

If DV looks good on an analogue TV, why can't it look good on my digital computer?

It is a:
- codec issue,
- the fact that you are displaying 640 x 480 with presumably better config.

There are other players you can use for better result. Check on the left.

Try using PowerDVD to view, gives the best playback that I have seen on a monitor.. TV video is interlaced and will never look as good on a monitor as it will on a TV.

True, PowerDVD or WinDVD will optimize playback for a computer display. Assuming you are keeping to the DV-AVI format throughout the process, you are doing the right thing for TV display or making a normal DVD.

When you view this raw video on a computer display you are getting two fields offset in time by 1/60th second superimposed displayed each frame. Any motion will show up as doublevision. Power DVD will optimize the video for computer display while not affecting the actual DV file.
