    Hi,

First off, I'm completly new to encoding avi's to DVD, so please be specific in anything you recommend.

I'm trying to convert avi files to the DVD format and then burn them onto a DVD to play them in my DVD player.

I tried using Avi2Dvd, and it converted and played without any problems, but the video was much too dark on the TV, even though the avi file's brightness was just fine when I played it on my computer.

Is there a good, free program that I can use to adjust the brightness of the video while it is being encoded to the DVD format? This as opposed to encoding it with VirtualDub or something first and then re-encoding it to DVD format. Basically, something that will do it all in one step rather than two (and take up less hard drive space in the process).

    Thanks for any suggestions.

You can still use VirtualDub for the adjustments and frameserve to your encoder. This eliminates the in-between file. Go to the 'Guides' section to the left <<< for information on frameserving with VirtualDub. If you are using TMPGEnc encoder to convert to DVD, it also has a brightness adjustment.

You also might want to try VSO DivxToDVD. It converts AVI and other formats to DVD, it's freeware, easy to use and does a good job, though I don't believe it can adjust brightness.
