Last night I came to my friend's home and saw him encode MKV to mpeg2 by Tmpgenc Xpress DIRECTLY .I heard him say about that before but I didn't believe because I know Tmpgenc Xpress can't deal with ogm and mkv .Why didn't the author of Tmpgenc announce that Tmpgenc Xpress can encode ogm and mkv to mpeg2 ? I think it is an advantage of Tmpgenc Xpress and that should be announced
I'm sorry for my poor English

  2. Well, TMPG always COULD read matroska files, using its built-in DirectShow reader module, if only the matroska playback pack was installed, so that the MKV file in question would play in WMP ( or any other DirectShow player, except MPC coming with its built-in splitter ).

However, while this has worked on my machines for a long time, it doesnt work anylonger, at least here. Now, i have to add that i am having only the 'free' version of TMPGencoder installed, and not the payware version. Also i am using very latest MKV splitter ( from Haali ), and not the old Gabest splitter anymore.

I would be REALLY interested to hear about the setup of your friedn, especially about
    - video and audio codecs used in the MKVs he has
    - TMPG version
    - matroska playback pack version ( DShow splitter )
    - screenshot of the playback graph of a MKV in Graphedit

It's my pleasure to have the reply from the Admin of Matroska project
here're some info that I know
-that MKV file is Karas (anime)
    Tmpgenc Xpress 3.0.4.24
    Matroska 1.03 or 1.02
I'm sorry that I can't give more info because I haven't meet him
I hope that Tmpgenc will be able to encode MKV files in future

  4. I am getting more and more hints that the problem is with the latest splitter from Haali. Some folks deinstalled it and installed the old splitter from Gabest http://sf.net/projects/guliverkli ( no h2.64 video possible, all other things should work ) and all was working fine again.

Haali is ok to look into this, but currently we fail to understand whats going on. I will try to contact the TMPG devs again, but last time we contacted them they were not interested in supporting our format.

Any hint from our user is much appreciated for this very reason, pls. drop a short email to matroska-users AT lists DOT matroska DOT org .

    Thanks in advance
