    Hi,

I've a home movie cd in .dat format, which I've converted it to .avi. All I'm doing is adding music to that .avi file in the movie maker and making a cd out of it in .wmv format.

I haven't tried converting it in dvd format yet, but I'm just curious to know if there is any other freeware that I can use and which is more convenient than using windows movie maker, for the above things that I'm doing. How about improving picture quality etc.?

    Thanks,

Windows movie maker took almost 8 hours to burn a cd of 170 mb (I don't know why). So would virtualdub take much lesser time?

I tried using Virtualdub but I wasn't able to compile the audios that I wanted to add. Each time I import an audio, it would start from the begining of the file, not where I wanted it.

You can expect it to burn just as fast as anything else, it's the conversion beforehand that takes all the time. There might be a slight difference but when your converting a video with a p3 800 that's the kind of time you can expect from any application.
