    how can I capture without having to listen to the audio of the capturing footage?

  2. I'm tempted to say "turn the speakers down"....but I'm guessing you want to use the speakers for something else while capturing. Personally I wouldn't touch the PC while its capturing BUT if you want you can go start/programs/accessories/entertainment/volume control. Select properties and make sure playback is selected. Put a tick in the "line in" box and this wil mute the playback but not the recording.

  3. I agree with turning down the speakers and everything else, BUT, if you are using the line-in for you recording source input then you do NOT want to mute this control.

    If you're capping footage from a DV cam thru firewire, you can do anything you want with the sound control panel, it'll still get the sound--it exists as a part of the DV stream.

    if you mute it for playback but have it selected for recording you will still record the sound - maybe i didn't make that clear.
