  1. I have used tmpeg to encode avi file to video cd, with template. At this piont every thing looks fine. I then use easy cd creator 5 to burn with the vcd wizard. When i pu disc in my pineer dv-343, it loads and screen says that there is a vcd in it , but when i hit play you can hear the disc running and it says play on the screen but no vidoe ever shows.
Please tell me what i am doing wrong or where i can find info on how to fix.
Also would i be better of using nero to burn with?

  2. EZCD Creator Platinum 5.xx does not create legitimate VideoCDs. You'll need to use another program to author your disc.

I'd suggest VCDEasy as a good place to start, and moving on to TSCV when you want to start working with Menus. They are both freeware. Nero should work too if you happen to have it on hand.

    Hi

Have you played the VCD in a DVD player ?, Easy CD works well and does make compliant VCD's. I have made 900+ before moving on to the new VideoPack 5 from Roxio (For menu's).

You can load the dat file back into Vdub to see if it is ok, sounds like you have a problem with the media player your using.

  4. Hello
I have the same problem I use smartripper to get the vob files then use dvd2avi to make the project file to encode with TMPGEnc this works great then I split the file in 2 pieces then use ecdc 5.02c platinum to make a vcd this works great for first half of the movie but when i try the second half of the file with ecdc it won't reconize the audio layer or bit rate for audio and hence will only have a single track fist half of mpg burns 2 tracks and works great...any way around this

  5. letmeinforgodsake,
If your DVD player will tolerate EZCD5.x's VCDs then you're OK. But they won't be compatable with as many players as stuff burned with just about anything else available.

I have a Phillips DVD825 that will play EZCD5 discs, but those same disc will not play in my uncle's Pioneer, or my Mother's Panasonic. But, if I burn the same mpeg file to VCD using the other programs I mentioned or even an older version of EZCD, it will play on all of them. If you search through the authoring forum you'll find other people have experienced the same problem.

  7. I am getting the impression that EasyCD creator is not as good as Nero 5.5!! I am looking to buy either an HP CD writer that'll work with EasyCD Creator 5 platinum or buy A CD writer that is bundled with Nero 5.5.

I found a Ricoh MP7200A on PriceWatch.com that is bundled with Nero 5.5. Is the Ricoh any good?

Will Nero work with any CD writer?

If you search this forum, well how many will you find complaining about Nero ? 100's.

One of the biggest problems I have found is the media that people use, TDK sell at 40P but an unbranded may sell at 20P, so people buy them. Then there are people who burn disks at 12 speed and more...

I wonder if people who get these problems ever try reducing the speed of burning, or trying another brand of disks ?

    I guess not...

My friends have these players, and have no complaints...

    JVC 557
    JVC FA92
    LG 4710
    Panasonic LA95
    Panasonic LV75
    Philips 712
    Pioneer 340
    Pioneer NS-DV88
    Sony NS400 (my own)
    Toshiba 900E

Still if what you use works then stick to it, no reason to change is there ?

  13. hi guys, i have been burning with ezcd creator5 platinum and they have all turned out as musico1 and not as avseqo1 like they should be doing. If anyone has a way of changing this i would very much like to hear from them. I have started using nero because it does put the right file in.

    Hi

Well all my disks have the Avseq0X.dat, there was something to switch off if you did not want to use it in a PC,I will have to take a look sometime, as I now use the new Video pack 5 for the menu functions. The last version I used was 5.02

    I found this in the help section;

    <TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font size=-1>Quote:</font><HR size=1 color=black></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT SIZE=-1><BLOCKQUOTE>
Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) sources should conform to the video CD specifications, which are more restrictive than just MPEG. For more information, please refer to the Video CD Specification Version 2.0 ("White Book&quot by Philips Consumer Electronics, and MPEG Standard (ISO/IEC 111172) documents.
There are two data areas for MPEG data on a video CD:

    · The Audio/Video Tracks area

    · The Segment Play Items area

In the Audio/Video Tracks area, every MPEG sequence is stored as a separate track. MPEG data stored in this area is restricted to MPEG files that contain both video and audio. Usually, this is the area where Video CD Creator tries to store MPEG sequences. Video CD Creator adds the MPEG files to the CD’s file system in a directory named MPEGAV and the files are named either MUSICxxDAT or AVSEQxx.DAT where xx is a number.

The Segment Play Items area is more versatile than the Audio/Video Tracks area and can include MPEG data containing the following:

    · Audio and video

    · Video only

    · Audio only

MPEG still images can also be stored in this area. Each MPEG sequence is added to the CD’s file system in a directory named SEGMENT with a file name of ITEMxxxx.DAT where xxxx is a number. Items in this area cannot be played in a CD-I player.

The maximum bit rate (MBR) for MPEG files is 1,377,600 bits per second.

The MPEG video data stream has three possible formats:

    · NTSC

    · Film

    · PAL

The following table lists the picture size and picture rate for each format:

    Format Picture Size Picture Rate
    NTSC 352 x 240 29.97 Hz
    Film 352 x 240 23.976 Hz
    PAL 352 x 288 25 Hz
The maximum video stream bit rate varies. For tracks, the rate is 1,151,929.1 bits per second. For the segment area, the rate is limited by the maximum bit rate and the requirements of the audio data stream. The video pack size is 2,324 bytes.

    MPEG Audio Parameters

    Layer 2
    Sampling Frequency 44.1 kHz
    Bit Rate:
    —for Audio/Video Tracks area 224 Kbit/sec
—for Segment Area Ranges 0 to 384 Kbit/sec
    Mode:
    —Stereo (dual channel)
    —Intensity Stereo
—Single Channel only allowed for segment area
The audio pack size is 2304 bytes.

As a source, you can use MPEG system files which are interleaved video and audio and MPEG video files where Video CD Creator allows the interleave with audio data in MPEG audio.
    </BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR size=1 color=black></TD></TR></TABLE>

It says "MUSICxxDAT or AVSEQxx.DAT where xx is a number."

I have used the Adaptec vertion since early, but switched to 5.02 from Roxio, it had always made "Avseq0X.dat"
