Please post back the following info,
we will be glad to help.

    1. On the 3 dvds that do not work, what brand of discs are they?
    2. On the 3 dvds that do not work, what are the types of movies that are on them? commerical movie backups or
self created ( vacation type) home movies?
    3. What brand of DVD Player do you have?
    4. What tools are you using to accomplish this?
(types and names of software, hardware, etc.)

Once we have this information, we can start troubleshooting.

    ok here we go.
    1. The discs that i am using are ritek's. The same ones i use for everything else.
2.On the movies burned they were avi.'s that were encoded with ffmpegx.
    3.I have a Panasonic DVD RV-32
4.I am using ffmpegx to encode, popcorn to burn. But i also have other software. I have dvd2one, toast, mpeg2 works demo & MTR.

    A Bit of clarification please:

#2. Are these .avi files you created as .avi
in ffmpegx, or avi's you made into VIDOE-TS
    folders ( muxing) in ffmpegx...

Could be the flavor of AVI...were they originally DIVX, MPEG-4, or 3ivx?

  5. When this happens, my suspicion is always that ffmpeg was used to encode. ie, the DVD ffmpeg option was selected in FFMPEGX

ffmpeg is not a truly constant bitrate encoder and can lead to certain players not playing the DVDs correctly. mpeg2enc on the other hand is truly constant. Some movies lead to more variation in the bitrate so this problem does not show up in all cases.

The 2 options are to either re-encode using mpeg2enc, or to author your original mpegs, or now vobs, with Toast 6.1.1. This Toast option is not 100% guaranteed, but it is faster and is my main method of converting to DVD. Toast since 6.0.9 makes en effort to standardise mpeg streams by padding them.

If however you did use mpeg2enc to begin with then I'm stumped.

They are avi's converted to video_ts. The flavor of avi is not coming to mind.
