If you want movie only then DVD2One or DVD Shrink will do that.

DVD2One will take about 5 mouse clicks and about 20 minutes.

DVD Shrink takes more clicks but it's free.

    Neither are complicated.

    Regards,

  4. I usually use CloneDVD to remove unwanted extras, then DVDShrink to compress and replace unwanted menu screens. If I want to do movie only, I use Shrink alone.

Also the version of CloneDVD that I have has problems with the new encryption methods if I use it first, but if I use DVD Shrink first to decrypt, it works great. Even DVDecrypter doesn't work for me on these, but Shrink does.

The way I do it is to play the individual vobs directly from the dvd folder on the hard drive using PowerDVD. This tells me exactly which titleset contains the movie, trailers, warnings etc...

Then I use titlesetblanker to blank out the required titleset.

I use Shrink for movie only. I tried VobBlanker on a couple of stubborn disks, but never got useable output (PowerDVD, Shrink, IFOEdit - nothing would open it)

are the VTS_01_0 through VTS_29_0 all the same? i played all the those kin of files and they play the same thing. For example, i opened VTS_01_0, and then i opened VTS_13_0, and it plays the exact same thing.

    29 Titlesets is alot

I usually play the VTS_XX_1.VOB file where XX can be 01, 02, 03, etc...

This can be the main movie, extras, trailers etc. Depending on which one I play. Usually, VTS_01_1.VOB is the main movie which means VTS_01_0.VOB is the menu. Hence, the rest of the titlesets is other stuff like extras, trailers, deleted scenes. If a titleset contains several vobs, its most likely the main movie.

Sometimes, VIDEO_TS.VOB contains the warnings screens (well mainly for region 2) so I blank that out as well.

Titlesetblanker sorts that out automatically. Play the dvd from your hard drive to test it out. Click on one of the extra features in the menu, you'll find that it does nothing.

But I yu really want to block out other menu features, You'll need to use MenuEdit, which is not a freeware. It can be used to delete menu buttons.

yeah, i played hitch, no previews or copywrights from the main menu i can select Previews, but it won't play them. i'll prolly give MenuEdit a try to see if i can get rid of it.

I long ago stopped worrying about keeping the menus. On a couple of my backups I have the movie and the making of (making of encoded at half-D1) on the same disk with no menu. Mind you, my player allows me to see the titles ont he disk, so I can playback title or chapter without menus. Once you have played through them once, they seem to be a waste of precious space on a backup.

I dont really bother with it. As long as the menu buttons dont work for the extras as titlesetblanker does, Its fine with me.

if you cut out all the previews, would that help with quality of the movie?

Yes. Cutting out previews means more room for the main movie, thus requiring less compression.

Depends how long they are and how much space they take up. Often they are encoded at lower bitrates than the movie, so you might not get much back. When I backed up the three Harry Potter films for my kids, I found I could save 10 minutes from each film by cutting the end credits. That worked out at several % of extra space for the movie itself. Again, no menus. I used Shrink to reauthor and trim, but not reduce. DVD Rebuilder with CCE did that for me.

If you have the ~ at the end, it means you used the backup feature in titlesetblanker. Open the dvd with titlesetblanker again and delete the backups.

VTS_02_1.VOB would be shown as VTS_02_*.VOB. You need to blank that out.

DVD Shrink natively lets you insert stills now. Use that.

yes, you can blank out VTS_02_1.VOB. Just select the VTS_02_*.VOB and not the VTS_02_0.VOB when blanking out titlesets.

True. It also helps to remove any additional languages such as directors commentarys and even DTS in some cases.
