I have been using DIVX to DVD convertor.
A couple of AVI's keep failing and I get the following final responce :
Delay of audio #0 = 420 mS
Stream # 1 - Audio : mp3, 44100 Hz, Stereo, 128 kb/s
Stream # 0 - Video mpeg4, 704 x 528, 25.00fps
Does anyone know what these mean and why it fails at approximately 1/3 of the way through?
It's a trials version I'm using.
Thanks

try scan the avi with virtualdub under video->scan. did it report any errors?

I don't have this programme, but just downloaded it.
I get an error message when I try to open the file :
Couldn't locate decompressor for format DX50 ( Unknown )
Virtual Dub requires a video for windows ( VFW ) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by windows media player are not suitable.

Download and install the latest DivX codec. Read some of the guides on DivX to DVD conversion under convert, left.

When I try to restore my previous settings from accessories, the option doesn't open.
When I try upon start up, I can't do that either ... no dates are shown ..... My system was working perfectly before I downloaded this programme -
uhhhhh WTF ?
Virtualdub doesn't get installed AFAIK ... you just extract it from the zip file. So no wonder it doesn't show up in lists of installed programs. To uninstall, just delete the folder where you extracted the files toIf in doubt, Google it. -
Either way, I still can't access my ' System Restore ' setting, either at start up or via system accessories

Or there's points set but the restore fails ?
Whichever the case, I guarantee that it's not virtualdub causing your problemsIf in doubt, Google it. -
I go to System Restore and the egg timer appears momentarily then disappears, in other words the facility doesn't open.
At start up when I try, there there no points set, which is unusual because I have previously done this.
System properties, the Turn Off System Restore has never been checked, so from that point, everything appears to be working fine.
It may not be virtualdub which has caused the problem, however, I've not downloaded any other programme that I feel could have caused this to happen.
I'm kinda' stuck because I can't access any Microsoft works which contain a lot of important data, and outlook gives me problems when I try to alter my email accounts when sending mail.
I don't know if re running Windows XP over the current one will help, but that's all I can think of.
I'm not a computer whizz so I'm apprehensive in trying other things for the fear of no being able to reverse any action. -
I have Norton, I have Zone Alarm and Ultra Win Cleaner ...
I appreciate the responses but constructive suggestions would be appreciated ! -
