  1. hello there ...

this is my first post on the videohelp.com forum, so if i have made a mistake, then please be kind ...

I am in unoiversity right now, and i am creating a DVD using video clips from the net and from people off my course, but i was wondering when i use ADOBE ENCORE DVD 1.5, the video clips have to be in 720x576 -or- 704x576 (i work in PAL cause i am living in england)
So, my question is ... IS THERE A PROGRAM THAT WILL LET ME ENCODE VIDEO WHILE AT THE SAME TIME SCALE THE CLIP TO THE RIGHT PROPORTIONS THAT I NEED FOR ENCORE (whether the scaling is automatic or user-defined, it doesn't matter.) ???
AND WHO MAKES THE SOFTWARE SO I CAN TRY TO GET A FREE DEMO COPY OR READ UP ON IT !!!

Thank You, (in advance) to anyone who will be able to help me in this matter.[/b]

  2. Moved to the Newbie/General Discussions forum.

    Welcome to VideoHelp, Ash.

Are you worried that the change in resolution will cause your video to become out of aspect (squashed in one direction)? If so, don't worry. Encode a sample to DVD and it will be just fine.

I would suggest TMPGEnc for this task - there are lots of guides for it on the left-hand side under "Convert".

  4. thanx for the warm welcome ...

i am worried a little about the resolution and wuality but not overly ... just need to find a program that scales the selected video file to a user defined size ...

for example i wanna take a video file of my friend and i boxing in the street, the clip is 320x276 ... i wanna change it to: 704x576--or--720x576 so that i can import it into ADOBE ENCORE 1.5 and make a DVD Disc of our fights ...

anyone who helps me cann have a copy if they want ... it is so funny to watch , we look like a bunch of dickheads !!!

    please help me.

It's probably a fair bet that 320x276 won't look that flash at Full D1 (720x576). You might get better results converting to 352 x 288 (which is still DVD-compliant).
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. under PAL restrictions set within ENCORE DVD ... you are not allowed to import anything that isn't 704x576--or--720x576 ...

i don't mean to get hostile or anything, and i don't want anyone to get affended, but will someone please tell me the name of a dman program i can use to do what i say i need...

thanx again, and please help me.

PS -- i am not worried too much about quality, (i am but i am not, if you know what i mean) i just need to get the size of the clip to scale THAT IS IT !!!

    thanx again

TMPGEnc, Mainconcept, Canopus Procoder, CCE, QuEnc .... any encoder will do it for you.

... and if encore won't accept 352 x 288 or 352 x 576, then I call "crap software" on it, because they're valid DVD resolutions.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  15. If you load the standard PAL DVD template in Procoder it will encode your video with the correct resolution (720x576). Just click on the target button and then the add button. When the "add target" screen pops up choose MPEG2-DVD-PAL. You will see a description of the parameters at the bottom of the screen.
