    Hello all,
This is my first post. I hope I posted in the right place. Anyhow, my situation is this:
I have a VIDEO_TS folder with files such as BUP, IFO, VOB. I'v been told that in order to burn it on a DVD I need a program such as Imgtool. There wasn't a lot to mistake with that program because I just chose the folder of VIDEO_TS and then converted it into ISO image file.
I wanted to make sure everything is alright before I burn the DVD so I mount it as an image (with daemon tools) and played the "DVD" on PowerDVD.
I can see the video, and I can change the language and subtitiles, but I can't see root menu, or any other menus (when I click on this option on PowerDVD it all in grey, so I can't choose it).

How can I make sure that I'll have the menus when I burn the DVD?

    Thank you,
    Tom

  2. There is no way to ensure this, except trying it out... as also your SA player may have problems (which do not necessarily show up in a soft player like PowerDVD!).
But you can try to open the VIDEO_TS folder in PowerDVD directly (without creation of an image). There is an option to play a 'DVD' from a folder in PowerDVD. Or try another soft player like WinDVD or Media Player Classic (just drag the VIDEO_TS.IFO file from the VIDEO_TS folder on the correspondent program icon)

Thanks for your reply borax. When I drag the VIDEO_TS.IFO to media player calssic the movie starts (without the menu) and with no sound...

What else do you think I should try?

    Thank,
    Tom

    You say
I have a VIDEO_TS folder with files such as BUP, IFO, VOB
    - Are these of your own creation, or just something you've "stumbled upon"? I mean - do you know there is a menu at all?

well the truth is that I downloaded these files as a DVD-R (this movie is a well known movie...).
So I suppose there should be a menu...

Not necessarily. It could well (and even probably) be a "main title only" rip.
And edit your post above and remove the movie name!

You cna load the DVD in PgcEdit. On the left, you'll see all the PGCs. If your DVD has a root menu, you can see the corresponding PGC marked as "root", same with chapter etc. I suspect you don't have these.
Another way is to look at your VTS_xx_0.VOB files, if you have menus, these files will not be super tiny. You can drag/drop them in PowerDVD and see what's there. If you see menus, then you have them, but something's not right in the DVD structure since you can't access them.
    I suspect you have a movie-only DVD...

In general, it's hard to put a menu back (not always possible, and when possible, not easy). Blutach wrote a nice guide to do just that (adding an original menu to a movie created by DVDShrink in re-author mode). So if you get your hands on a menu, you might be able to reconnect it that way. Go to the PgcEdit home page, and find blutach's guide for that...
