  1. Hi, i was wondering if anyone knows why, when i have created a dvd from TMPGEnc DVD Author (1.6), the vob files it produces are slightly smaller than the original. I would like to use this to put videos from dvd-ram and movies from dvd-ram, onto dvd-r, without any loss in quality.

Will this slightly smaller file size affect quality? Anyone know why it does it? is it because it cuts off a couple of frames at the start??

    Thx

TDA does not transcode or re-encode video. it may have just gotten rid of some of the "overhead" from the dvd-ram files.

  3. Some of the files were also .vob from a mucked up dvd-r (not finalised), but then i guess seems it wasnt finished properly, maybe it has this too?

    Wats the "overhead"?

Anyway thanks for the quick reply, seems it dont trans/reencode should be fine for my use . From what i can see the video looks the same, afterall it should if its not re-encoded etc.

Thanks again lumis, and to the website.. very useful search on guides for dvd-ram to dvd-r and for tools.

  4. I'm seeing the exact same thing. I don't like that it is changing the .VOB files, but if it is really only getting rid of some header cruft, that seems fine. Can anyone confirm?
