I bought a Cinevision RV4000 recently and as per their website I got the "upgrade discs" from them as I don't have a cd burner. They sent the system update and the loader update on seperate discs. I was able to do the system upgrade but was unable to the loader as they sent me a disc for a different model(they are sending the right one out to me).

My question in all this, and I know I should know better, what's the difference between the two? Could both upgrades be put on the same disc? I am more familiar with the term "firmware upgrade" which I thought encompassed both but obviously I was wrong.

Anyone with the knowledge and the patience to explain this to me would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Of the two updates, one is for updating the actual software on the unit, while the other one (that didn't work for you) is for updating the firmware of the actual DVD Buner (loader). You can think of your RV4000 as a computer with a dedicated purpose. So the first disc updated the software, while the second disc updated the DVD Burner. Just like on a computer, you can update Windows, and you can update the firmware of one of the Optical Drives.

    Hopefully that made sense.
