AML dvd media isn't the best dvd media to use. Try using better dvd media. Your SONY 710 drive is a REBADGED LITEON drive. LITEON drives tend to like DVD+R media than DVD-R. Check out the LITEON FORUM at CDFREAKS.COM.

As I pointed out check out the LITEON FORUM at CDFREAKS.com.

As for dvd media try using FUJI 8x DVD-R that is manufactured by TAIYO YUDEN, look for the spindles that say MADE IN JAPAN. Or you could order the TAIYO YUDEN from www.rima.com. It's a known fact that LITEON dvd burners like yours tend to do better at burning DVD+R media. Download DVDINFO PRO or DVD IDENTIFIER to find out the media codes on blank dvd medai. Brand names don't mean much, it's the media codes that matter.
