  1. I have had the TBC 1000 for several months. I have left the unit powered on continuously. REcently it appears as if the TBC is not filtering as "cleanly" as it once did. Is it possible that leaving on the TBC continuously has damaged the unit? Does anyone have an opinion on harm done to a TBC that is never powered down??

    Thanks!

My guess would be that your device suffered (sooner or later) a power
surge. Somewhere in time, it suffered this, but you were not knowledge
of when it happened - doesn't matter now.

I have these everyso often, my motherboard will act weird, and is usually
an indication leading me to suspect random power surges. They can
happen at any time of the day/night.

I aint no expert, but anything is possible. It would seem that something would just burn out and have complete failure rather than loose performance. There should be some kind of way to test the actual performance of the unit to see if it is still operating within the range of its manufactured specs, but I would have to take it to someone else that actually knew what they where doing to test it.

As a kind of general rule of thumb with solidstate equipment, it works or it don't. The most common failures are at an interface between the device and its user or another peice of equipment. Either switches, buttons or knobs fail or the connection point to and from other equipment fails. Thats kind of how the "turn it off and on" and "mess with the buttons" or "wiggle the wire" trouble shooting routine gets a start.

But like I said anything is possible. Maybe time, and heat are working against some component in your magic box. If it can be identified and replaced by yourself or a freind you may be able save some money on repairs or replacement and do it yourself
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?
