Hey people! I'm really sorry if this question has already been answered... i've checked the guides, searched the forum, and my question remains half answered.

I need to convert DVD films to AVI (or if you can think of any other good file type that can be edited with Premiere Pro), and without losing any quality, or as less as possible. That means file size doesnt matter.

    I already have:
    VobEdit
    IfoEdit
    AutoGK
    TMPGEnc DVD author
    DVD decrypter
    #1 DVD ripper SE

and i'm still getting lost in the how i use all this...

    Thanks for any help!

Extract film in IFO mode as large VOB to hard drive.

Demux streams in TMPG or VOB Edit

Convert audio to WAV in Besweet

Convert video to AVI in VirtualDub (MPEG2 version)

    Done.

    Import into premiere.

    It's really easy to do.

  5. I didn't offer any help but maybe you could answer a litte English->French translation question. I have a little program that deals with a webcam. One of the controls is labeled "Camera Setup". This opens a dialog that lets you access camera controls like brightness, contrast etc. what would be an appropriate label in French? Babelfish suggested "installation d'appareil-photo" but that seems rather long.

Oh, if you have VirtualDubMPEG2 you should be able to open your VOB file and select Full Processing Mode for both audio and video, then save uncompressed (if size really doesn't matter). Or use one of the codecs that Premiere is happy with, like DV.

    Catlicker? Yuck!

Well DV isn't lossless. A common lossless codec like huffYUV should work fine with Premiere. Not the most efficient lossless codec though.

Premiere and Vegas tend to work best with uncompressed video, if available. I've not always had the best experiences with HuffYUV in Premiere, though MJPEG is fine.
