  1. Very new to DVD burning/authoring so bare with me please

Ok here is what I got going on:

I have downloaded many DivX encoded files that total up to around 11 GB and I wish to put them into some playable form to watch in my DVD Player.

I have tried to use TMPGEnc to convert to MPEG so that I can author the DVD that way but then my 11 GB's is going to turn into much much more. Is there any way to author a DVD with menus in the DivX format that I have now that will keep things at 11 GB's so I can use a couple of DVD's?

If this question is widely known sorry for the ignorance but I really have done quite a bit of searching for this problem.

    THANKS ALOT

There's rumoured to be the ability to create menus for DivX-encoded material, but AFAIK no settop DVD player supports it .... yet.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yep, I believe DXN have setup a new certification program. As soon as you see a DivX Ultra certified player you will know that menu support is here.

Still currently you get a file browser to select what to play.

  5. No but I am currentyl looking into buying the Philips 642 which does support DivX. Will I be able to create DivX DVD's with menus on that or no?

    Second Question:
What is the best way to burn a DVD with menus from movies in DivX? I have 5 seasons worth of a TV Show in DivX and TMPGEnc I know converts to MPEG but the problem is with so many DivX files it turns into alot of DVD's. Any way to convert them to mpeg without increasing the size so much? (It is a cartoon so some quality lost isnt the biggest issue to me)

If you use the DVD Low Res. template in TMPGEnc it can put almost 5 hours on a DVD.

No current standalone Divx players support menus. If they are flash upgradable, then they *may* support them in the future.

At the moment, the only software that I have seen that supports it is from Divx.com. Start there.

My alternate solution is to send a/v signal from a computer to the tv (wired/wireless). That way, you can play whatever file formats on tv without the fuss of converting them or moving them around from media to media. A wireless av sending / receiving unit costs just under $100 US, comparable price to a divx player.

  9. That wireless idea sounds like the best till they come out with a DivX Ultra player, can you recommend any good brands that wont cause any interference with my wireless router?
