  1. I love my Lightscribe burner, which is ideal for my business...

Can I build a duplication tower holding 3 or more of these writers to do the labeling more quickly? I use a laptop (1.6 Dothan, 1GB DDR2 ram), so I'd want a Firewire or USB2 way of doing it.

Is it possible? Anyone done this?

    thanks...

  2. Yes.

Use the SAMSUNG drives. Make sure you update the firmware. Do not use HP drives - they fail.

Purchase a PCI ATA-133 controller card - do not mount it in the first PCI slot. Disable resources you do not use in BIOS such as the serial and parallel ports and any other resources using an IRQ. Select UPDATE ESCD in the BIOS after the card install.

Connect one drive to the onboard IDE controller and install the software for the ATA-133 controller before connecting the drives to the controller. When installed correctly, turn of machine and now connect all four drives (MASTER/SLAVE/MASTER/SLAVE) to the controller card.

If this machine is for dupes only, uninstall/disable sound cards, modems, and any other card except a network card.

Purchase DROPPIX for towers 1.7.4 or higher for 4-drive configuration. DROPPIX is the only software available to control more than one drive simultaneously - don't waste your time trying to find cheaper software - it simply is not out there - DROPPIX is the only one licensed. DROPPIX is not programmed at this time to support multiple drive burning simultaneously to USB drives since the USB drives wouldl have a MAC address that is not supported.

After all is said and done, you could have paid an extra couple hundred dollars for a 4-drive unit from Aleratec.com - ready to go. But, there is less control and capability with a stand-alone unit.

Use HP media for fastest burn speeds on both sides. Other brands are much slower.
