I'm exporting a video from my Avid as a QT Ref file and then encoded in Cinema Craft Encoder. The encoded video comes out looking like it has the wrong aspect ratio - the sides are "squished in" causing faces to look elongated and such - and there is a black border on the left and right of the video. I'm encoding the video at 4:3 aspect ratio - that's what it should be.
When I click on the QT Ref file, it plays fine, but after it's encoded the new file plays incorrectly (as described above) so I'm lead to believe the problem is happening in the encoding process.
Any ideas?
I'm in NTSC, Windows XP, CCE Basic Ver. 2.67.01.13
Thanks!

your pixel ratio in AVID output is wrong .. you are using 1:1 which not correct for pal or ntsc ..
(though if you have a AVID system and using a $2000 encoder - you prob. know that)

In my QT Ref output settings in Avid I can select 4:1 square, 4:1 non-square, or 16:9. I've tried the two 4:1 options and both yield the same result as I previously described.
