    Hi B & mods,

Just had a thought - would a mini-guide describing how to take and upload screenshots in the forums be a useful addition to the site ?

Maybe a sticky in Newbie / General or something ?

Just getting a bit tired of having to recompose the instructions on how to every time someone asks, is all ...

... and it's easier to find /refer to if it's sitting at the top of a forum

    Thoughts ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

If they're not going to read:

"Type {img]filename.gif[/img} in your post where the image should be. JPG, GIF and PNG are the allowed formats and the max file size is 150 KB.",

then what makes you think that they will take the time to read a sticky?

But still, it may be worth the effort. So get writing!

I don't think noobs will read it of their own accord either - it will just be easier for me to find it to refer it to them !
    If in doubt, Google it.

As I said (and as we've debated in the past), I don't think a lot of NOOBs will read it of their own accord - as we say, if they don't read that one line then they won't read it. IMO if it's sitting at the top of a forum, or in the guides section, then at least SOME go-getters will discover it on their own, and for those who don't, I can tell them to RTFM !

Also, at least it makes it easy for me or someone to locate it to refer to them if it's sitting at the top, instead of having to dig or search for it too intensely.

Thanks to B and b for the vote of support - working on it ATM .....
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Bump ...

The "guide" is currently residing here, and has been completed to my satisfaction, so could someone please move the post to Newbie / General, sticky it, and blow away the posts from the cretins that replied to it while it was a work in progress ...

    Thanks.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Your wish is my command. You're right at the top of the sticky list for now!

  24. Oh, one thing! In Paint, why not add in that you can get rid of the white bits by looking for those little adjustment squares on the edge of the white border (you know what I'm on about, right?) and moving them in. I notice you have them in one picture but must have removed them by the time you came to open it in PSP.

    Good idea, snake dude

TBH I only use PSP, so the Windows Paint section was a bit rough n ready, but good enough to get the job done. When you import into PSP, it doesn't have those white bars so I never really thought about it. I contemplated going into cropping and stuff like that but I thought it was probably getting a bit too advanced, given the purpose and scope of the guide.

I'm happy to add that addendum in though, but I noticed you've locked the thread. I don't mind if there's replies to it, so could you unlock it ? At least then I can edit the OP if required with any further problems, maybe a photoshop section (if someone's willing to do it for me), etc etc ...

    Thoughts ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
