  1. I have downloaded some movie files that when I go to burn them in nero vision express it tells me that these files are to big for the 4.7g DVD's. Now, I have DVDSHRINK but this program seems to be for taking out unwanted information on official DVD releases such as multiple languages or commentaries and things of that nature.

Is there another program that can compress these avi or mpeg files to make them dvd (4.7b) burnable without sacrificing the qualtiy???

Once again, any help for the newbie is appreciated.

A couple of possible paths here:

    - use another all-in-crap-one tool - vso divxtodvd has a lot of followers

    - do it the manual way

    - check out the guides section

    - check out the F.A.Q.
    If in doubt, Google it.

DVD Shrink is, surprisingly, for Shrinking DVDs by removing unneeded material and transcoding the rest (if necessary). I know it isn't obvious from the name.

If quality is your main aim, then downloaded source isn't a great start. Given that is what you have, then the manual way (as pointed out above) is definately the best.

If you are impatient, I second DivxtoDVD. Generally the output is on par with the source.

  4. And it's not 4.7 GB anyway, but 4.37 GB.
