  1. I'm thinking of buying an html editor for my site, do you have any recommendations of any great html editors I should buy? I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive. I would like to it to have WYSIWYG and code built in so I can view it in both. Or are there any really good freeware editors out there? Also it needs to have support for php pages and css.

I would go with Crimson Editor.

I've never liked WSIWYG editors, as they tend to over-code the pages. I usually have the page open in a browser, edit, then hit reload.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check that out!! The reason it would be nice for me to have a WYSIWYG browser as well as a code editor all in one is I have a big page of events that I have to format and add info to, which can be a pain to do all in code (with that volume of info). I agree though, they tend to overcode the pages.

  6. I have not done html coding for a long time. But back then I used Macromedia Dreamweaver to generate the basic template, form, etc. and then used TextPad to do fine editing.

Coffee Cup, it's has just about everthing. Originally a text editor it now also supports both text editing and WYSIWYG. The best of both worlds. I haven't tried out the WYSIWYG part but the text editor is considered one of the best.

Note: This animation is used as an example, we don't reccomend animations such as this for extensive integration into a website because of the large file sizes required and they can become quite annoying to the user.

I forgot about coffeecup - good app from way back ..

Which reminded me about InnovaStudio. They are supposed to be excellent with many good reviews on their html tools ..

Thx, wasn't talking to you, no offense taken. I can take a joke as good as the next guy. Not bad for learning it myself.

My point is that if that's kind of a bad example, why have it up and say as much? Show the "good stuff" and not have a disclaimer.

And since you put them up for review, I'd have to say that your sites are mediocre at best, especially the storefront sites. It would be a bit more professional to have real e-commerce and (at least) plug into online payment. Very inexpensive and easy to do.

I'd hate to see your customer satisfaction ratings if this is how you take a little (tongue-in-cheek) criticism. Don't be such a cry-baby. And sorry, I don't whip mine out for just anyone

    As to your first request:

I've given this a try and I really like it!! It is easy to use yet has a lot of features and is very intuitive! Also I really like how you can store your own scripts on the side for easy access!

First that was put up a year ago as a temp page this is after all a second job...almost a hobby. I'm too busy making money.

There's only one customer I have interested in online payments, it's still being worked on. Matter of fact I had to remove the e-commece capability for the fireplace site because that's what the customer wanted.

And that tells me about all I need to know.

Thanks for the info!! I've tried this editor before (actually used it a lot) but it and Mozilla Composer both share a big flaw - when I got to save my page it removes any php script that I have in the page, for instance like a php include. This happens even if I save the page as .php. I'm not sure why this happens but its a big problem because with the recent redesign of my site I have several php scripts on each page.

    @BJ_M

That was made in Cool 3-D, it's dirt cheap and quite versatile. I use it mostly for making video animations. It does more than text.

Thanks for the links! I've tried a couple on that list including Trellian, which worked great for awhile but then gave me error when I tried to save...
