Problems Backing Up Certain DVDs

I am having problems backing up some dvd's

Hittch, Magnum P1, nite rider don't seem to backup when I use dvd shrink. They end up making my backups blank yet they burn fine.

Anyone know anything about this?

Are you using Shrink to actually "rip" the DVD. SInce Shrink isn't really updated anymore I've run across several folks lately that have had problem using SHrink from Start to Finish on some of the newer movies.

I would recommend ripping with DVD Decrypter (file mode) and then using Shrink to compress and send the image back to DeCrypter for burning. I haven't done Magnum or nite rider but Hitch worked fine.

It is one more step to do but it seems to work every time (pending the next big copy protection scheme).

and even now, dvd decrypter is no longer being updated so in the future, you made need to get another one as new copy protections are coming out. I would suggest using AnyDVD.

Good call vdk_au. All of us will eventually have to migrate to whatever program solves the copy protection problem. Hopefully they will be free like Decrypter and Shrink but that may not be the case.

For me (SO FAR), DeCrypter has handled everything and given the free part, I may stick with it until more and more movies come out with whatever the lastest and greatest protection scheme is. Then I'll gladly move to another protect and pay if I have to.
