Copying a VCD to a CD-R (copy to copy)

I am having a few problems getting some VCD's I got from a freind of mine to copy onto a CD-R. I have made some VCD's up and know how to get the MPEG file onto the disc, but when I try to copy a VCD already made up, I get errors, I have usedd Clone CD, Nero 5.5 the latest one, and Adaptec and they all get to about 40% on reading the disc and they quite and then give me errors. Nero actually tells me that all the files have been cached and the burning process has begun only to quit half way into the burn!! I have made several coasters trying to make copys of some of the VCD's to a CD-R.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, all the programs I mentioned above are the latest ones.

I've never actually ran into a problem like this. But I would suggest just ripping the .dat file from the vcd, renaming it to .mpg and reburning it? or get a program to convert .dat to vcd compatible formats. but i think something like that should work.

nero's fine....

just copy the .dat file from the VCD into your HDD...u can just use Nero's VCD template to burn the .dat file into another VCD....

try puting them im Bin and Cue files

If you are going to copy the DAT file off a CD, then I strongly suggest that you use VCDGear to covert it back to a real MPEG first (not to mention it can fix up some errors).

However, if you are getting read errors on the disc, this method might not work either.

You could try using BlindRead/BlindWrite suite. That from all accounts is very good when trying to copy problematic discs.
