    Hello all,

After some reasearch, I decided that the Hauppauge WinTV PVR 350 would be a very good card for me? Do you agree? Here are my needs for it: (NOTE: i can't use many of the All in wonders because i dont have an AGP Slot)

-MPEG2/AVI Capture at full resolution 720x480
    - VERY GOOD QUALITY

I know this one only captures MPEG, but thats ok. I plan to capture off of svideo from Dish network box.

  2. I have the PVR-250 and its great!

Do use s-video, it will give give the best picture. I use an old SVHS camcorder to capture my home video. I set the capture the MAX MPEG2 bitrate. I then convert to Xvid to keep the quality and get smaller files.
For the love of God, use hub/core labels on your Recordable Discs!

  3. If you don't need FM radio capture and TV out (from the PVR-350) then you can spend less and get a PVR-250. You might even consider the PVR-150 (which is replacing the 250) but a few people have problems with distorted audio. If you get a 150 be sure you can return it if you in case you run into that problem.

I've got the 150 and am thrilled with it. I use the Canopus ADVC-100 for video that I need to edit and "play" wih a lot - but the Hauppauge is great for capture and burn. Usually I add a menu with MF4 and tell it not to re-encode it.

I have the 350, as well. I doubt you will be disappointed with it.

I actually got into using the FM radio portion of it, too.

On my cable system, they also distributed FM music stations too - just splitting the video coax and feeding the FM input side made for crystal clear reception.

    Very nice card.
Whatever doesn't kill me, merely ticks me off. (Never again a Sony consumer.)
