I have an Adapted VideOh (2010 model) capture card and I've tried several software products but I can't seem to find one that allows me to capture an entire vcr tape with the blank spots between different video segments. The software always treats this as 'signal loss' and stops the recording to disk.

I'd like to find some software that allows me to blindly set the time to capture whatever is coming across, signal or 'no signal' so that I can edit out the blank spots myself. This way I don't have to sit at the computer during each tape capture and re-start it when it stops capturing due to 'signal loss'

Is there any software and/or settings within that software that I can use? I'd appreciate any ideas. I have about 15 home movie tapes that I want to convert to DVD but in a more painless way. I'd be willing to buy another card if the price was reasonable but I think my answer lies in finding and using the right software...

    Blank areas are signal loss.

You would need to add the type of converter or TBC that substitutes real video when signal loss occurs.

Beware some TBC's will replace the "no signal" portion of the video signal with color bars. Look for a Datavideo TBC-1000. This unit will not display color bars.

So it sounds like I just can't find some 'off the shelf' software that I can set a specific time frame to capture from an input source (signal loss and all)?

I thought it was just a matter of finding the right software and right setting(s).

  5. I never experienced that problem when using Cyberlink's PowerDirector 4. It will record the blue screens and static during the spaces between segments without stopping.

It's a shame I can't get the software to work with my 550pro card...

Some VCR's will switch to a real NTSC blue in the blank spots. The capture card may or may not keep going when the VCR switches.
