I am having problems encoding audio. The movie I am encoding to PSP will be encoded correctly for a while, til one point where the audio hangs up for a few seconds and then starts again, being 7 seconds off. I have checked the original video and there is no hang up there. Any advice? Is there a way to encode the audio seperately and try to add it back together?

What did you use to rip the original movie? The reason I ask is that I had similar problems with one of the DVDs I was ripping for my PSP. Originally I used MacTheRipper and extracted the movie into four VOBs. Two of the VOBs compressed fine in ffmpegx, but the other two developed the same audio lag you mention, however, the original VOB was fine. I tried using Yade X and found that you can extract VOBs from the original DVD in Chapters or even Scenes. I noted what time the audio lag began and used Yade X to extract the DVD again, but without the several second Scene where the lag began. This led to several (about 20 VOBs), which I combined to one big VOB and the lag disappeared after compressing with ffmpegx. Give Yade X a try if you haven't already and find the scene where the audio lag starts.
