What are we downloading? Text files? Excel Docs? Word Docs? PDF Files?

I imagine this question does not have the most legitimate intentions, so I'll just walk away. That's merely an assumption.

lots of them connect to the same thing, but as of last couple months WinMX had the most users, followed by Limewire (tied with iTunes, amazingly).

  5. I use BitTorrent to get Linux distros - I can't do it through my browser because I can't limit the download speed and I share a 1Mbps connection with four other people... With BitTorrent and BitComet as my client, I can limit the download to 60KB/sec so I don't inconvenience others.

It's a good P2P system with just about anything on it - as I say, Linux distros can be pretty massive and BitTorrent does me just fine.

Cobra, try Bit Tornado, it has features for controlling upload/download speeds.

  7. So does BitComet - that's why I use it. Also, I can't seem to get any other clients working on my PC...

  8. I use BT to download perfectly legit files. The last lot
were free data files from NASA. I got 2 gig shared,
which otherwise would have strained any ftp server,
given the sheer popularity of these files.

I used shareaza 2.x (no spyware)

I know BT is build into the World of Warcraft patcher because I had to free a port of up for it. Programs? I pretty much decided they were all crap.
