I have an avi file. The video itself is ok. However, a different (language) soundtrack is imposed on the original one. Thus, I'm hearing two different languages at the same time. I have tried to turn off one of the speakers but the problem still there. I've checked out tools/configurations of all the media players I've in my computer; this includes Windows Media Player, PowerDVD as well as RealPlayer... but couldn't find any solution. Can anyone tell me how to delete or disable the additional soundtrack (and with what software)? The problem is very annonying. Thanks in advance for the help.

  2. Media Player Classic should let you select only the audio track you want when it plays (Play -> Audio -> (select track).

Or you can use VirtualDubMod to remove the unwanted audio track. Put both Audio and Video in "Direct Stream Copy" mode, disable the unwanted audio track, the Save AVI.

It sounds like your AVI was created by mixing the separate tracks for each language into a joint stereo track. There's no easy way to extract one language from the joint audio.

Well no. If it was, then disabling one speaker would also disable one of the languages. As said it would contain seperate streams which can be removed with VirtualDubMod, just double click on the one you want to disable.

For players that don't have a built in audio switcher you could try Morgan's switcher or using Haali's splitter instead of the default avi one.

In addition to VirtualDubMob, are there any other softwares that can do the same?

Thanks for all the suggestions and help. I've finally got it down with VirtualDubMob... after some experiment. Thanks again.
