  1. I would like to know what I am missing...
Copied a group of jpgs to a cd and the dvr-320 wouldn't read them. Tried cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r, both finalized and unfinalized. This dvr is suppose to read jpegs, but I have not had any success. Has anyone had this problem? Have you found out how it works? I would think this would be a simple matter, but don't want too many coasters....

    Thank you in advance,
    JJS

The JPEGs must be on a CD-R or CD-RW formatted in ISO 9660. I believe they need to have a .jpg or .jpeg extension at the end of the file name and have file names no longer than 32 characters.

Insert the photo CD and wait a few seconds. In the Main menu the PhotoViewer menu will become active. Select PhotoViewer to play the CD. You cannot play the photos by merely pressing the play button. You must select PhotoViewer.

  3. Thanks for the reply... I have done everything you said except to check and see what format the disk was in. I will check that. I copied another group of photos over to the same type of cd and it worked exactly as you said. The only difference between this group and the one I tried yesterday, Was I had edited all those photos in Photoshop elements 3, however they were saved as jpgs. So maybe that is the problem...

  4. I created some jpg's for a different recorder this weekend and had a similar problem. Turned out the Panasonic will not playback an extension of .jpeg but will playback .jpg. The images I edited with Photoshop had the original .jpg extension changed to .jpeg and those did not play. One cd had all Photoshop .jpeg's. The recorder did not recognize it at all.

Thanks for sharing that discovery. The problem I've had with jpg images and the Pioneer is that a black image sometimes will show up in between the photos. I believe this happens when the jpg has an embedded thumbnail.

The part I like about the PhotoViewer is the ability to zoom the image. But otherwise I've gone with making slide show SVCDs or DVDs.

  6. I wonder if what I was seeing is the same issue. Sometimes a black image appears and it has the correct .jpg extension. I found a solution was to convert the image to tif and back to jpg. For whatever reason, the image would then appear.

Also, my jpg's would not appear in the order in which they were arranged in the computer which was a bit disconcerting. They were appearing based on the "date modified" in the file. By assigning the same "date modified" to every jpg caused the order to appear correctly.
