break it in half, pour gasoline on it, take a match to it, and throw the ashes in to a large body of water.

Or, being a tad more constructive, one would ask if you mean "How do I create a CD / DVD that can't be copied?"

If that's the case, then there are no simple and / or effective methods. There are a whole load of tools out there to rip commercial CDs and DVDs - therefore, anything that us mere mortals do doesn't stand a chance.

None really short of encrypting the material. There's acouple of tricks I have heard such as creating a blank portion at the end of your dvd and physically scratching the surface. This will produce an error when they go to copy it but is also easily bypassed with the correct tools. There was a sticky for this at one point, do a search.

@pbhalerao: thanks for the suggestion, if i need it just for one or two...yes that will work perfectly but if somebody has lots of cds that wants to protect, that will not be practical specially if you have a company and create lots of cds.

Actually I did some digging on this and my findings make me think positive about the fact that, one can protect duplication of a cd. I am talking about the average users not those one that know how to crack things!

Anyways, the following are my findings and I am gonna give them a go whenever i get a chance. I will post back the results as soon as I get to a conclusion but it might take a little time as I am busy these days. But I promise to post back.

In the meantime I would appreciate it if anyone could try the suggestions in the following links and post back any results. I have not used The programs stated in the following links and I do not guaranty those programs. Please use them at your own risk.

I think it has come to the point where even the "average user" can easily find the tools to bypass any protection. It's not quite the voodoo and sorcery it once was years ago. Everything's One-Click, plus google has become a verb.

... especially when all you need to do is type in "bypass CD protected" into google and within 3 seconds they're reading this thread, finding out exactly how you "protected" it
    If in doubt, Google it.

    That's why it's a sticky.
A simple forum search would have turned it up.
