Capturing from advc 1394

I kinda know I can capture with scenelizer live and Ulead products and the lot but all of these products capture to dv then author as per project properties to dvd/vcd/svcd. Tried it in Videostudio 9, pinnacle unfortunately doesnt give me too many options. I want to capture to mpeg 4 avi file directly. I tried using virtualdub but I remember reading, it does not work with canopus products. I am just trying to find out some thing whcih directly captures in mpg4 avi.

DV does not work with transfers to Virtualdub, nothing to do with Canopus. Try Mainconcept encoder. It will convert to DIVX or XVID on the fly. Not great quality, though.

Hmm its actually the analog inputs I am using on the thing so thought there is a chance it will work in virtualdub. Isnt there any other option.

You can use the MS Media Encoder to capture directly to WMV, at least I can with my 110. Should be the same with the 1394.....

I can't image you could capture to mpeg 4 at decent quality. Most mpeg 4 encoders require a fair bit of grunt to get high quality output.

I capture with Vegas Video 4.0, no problems.
