  1. hi all.... i ripped my invader zim dvds to my hd and i want to put it on my H320.. (portable mp3/divx player) the thing is i wanna cut the AVIs into seprate episodes rather than all being on one avi... (i'm using virtualdub 1.5.10)
every time i cut from the starting credits to right before the ending credits, for some reason it leaves in the "nickoloden" logo for like 3 sec then it continues to where i wanted to start from....
so instead of starting from oh... say.. 0:24:22 for some reason it starts at 0:24:19.... i tried other episodes and it does the same.....

    any suggestions?

    thanks,

  2. Keyframes is the keyword here. You can only cut from one keyframe to the next. Many files have keyframes as far as 300 frames apart. You need to redo the keyframes.

Edit: Oops. The tutorial above doesn't seem to work for this...

Try switching to video full processing mode. Of course, this means you'll have to encode again . . . .

  5. Or, you can just re-encode the bit before the first keyframe in the section you want to keep...

I'm in the same boat. Any tutorials that actually work for this?

In short... cutting from keyframe to keyframe is NOT an option. My AVIs need to be trimmed precisely. Does anyone recommend a roundabout for this? What can I do here?

And Raga, can you please clarify your last point.

  8. First direct stream copy from the next keyframe after the desired cut place until the end, and save that into a file. If the required section is in the middle of a file, also direct stream copy from the beginning to the first keyframe before the desired cut and save that into a file.

Then do a full re-encode of the section between the two, specify one keyframe per each frame in the codec settings. Then open that file and cut in the desired places, then direct stream copy into a new file. Then merge together the bits you want.

I haven't needed to do that, but in theory that's the way it works. Please report back with your results.
