I used the following guide:
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/33/59/
And everything seemed to work fine when capturing, but when I go to check the file after it's on my computer (in this case it was an hour and thirty minutes long) only the first part of it had sound. The rest of the video was fine, but the sound just wasn't there for the last 3/4 of the video. What exactly would cause this? Can I not capture that long of a video at a single time?
Thanks for the help guys!

Quite why the guide tells you to capture as Type 2 I don't know, unless something later in the process needs Type 2. I have always captured as Type 1, usually capture a full DV tape (one hour, I don't believe in Long Play, too risky) and have never had a problem yet.
Try transfer to DV Type 1 instead and see if that cures the problem. By the way, DV is a file transfer not a capture so you posted in the wrong forum. -
I use about the same method as that guide. I've transferred 6 hours though Firewire from my DV converter and never lost audio. I have lost audio sync, though, converting from a VHS tape. Did you drop any frames during the transfer?
EDIT: I use Type 2 as it works with VirtualDub and TMPGEnc for me.
