I just hooked up my Lite-on 5045 (has a manf. date of Nov. 2004). I noticed there is a little bit of a green tint to the picture. And when source is set to tuner you can hear a hum. I notice it already has an LP speed setting. Since I already have the 3 hr recording speed, and I don't think I will be copying VHS tapes with this unit right now my question is - if I upgrade the firmware now, can I upgrade it with the hacks later? Or do I have to wait for a newer firmware to come out to install the hacks? I also just purchased the Ilo 04 which I haven't set up yet. But when I do I'm going to install the hacked firmware because I will be using it to copy VHS tapes. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

If you are not concerned with the Macrovision on the 5045, use the unhack firmware. You will be able to use the hacked firmware later if you decide you want to. Version 197 takes care of the green tint. The tuner hum is common and hardware related so it can not be fixed through firmware.
