  1. Hello,

Trying to get my old VHS home movies over to DVD.

    - JVC HR-S3902U VCR with SVideo output to a Canopus ADVC55 capture device.

    - WinDV to capture the DV file to my PC. (AVIcodec indicates the video codec is Sony Digital Video)

    - Canopus Procoder to encode the DV file to MPEG using the standard DVD/NTSC settings.

    - Sonic to burn the DVD.

The DV file is of great quality. The output MPEG and DVD is terrible.
Any ideas on why this would be?

    Thanks,
    W

  3. Viewing the output on a monitor or a TV has poor quality.

NO no no. You have to watch BOTH things on the SAME output.

The avi file looks great on a monitor. Not sure how I would watch it on a TV without encoding it.
