When you convert it to DVD compliant mpeg it will easily fit. 13.6 GB and probably in DV-AVI format is about an hour. Even the highest qwuality DVD mpeg will fit once converted.

You need to convert and author it. Try out the guides section.

  3. To add a bit.
The RUNNING TIME of the video determines it's final size, once encoded and authored, not it's file size.

To add a little bit more, the running time AND the bitrate chosen during encoding are the only factors that determine the final file size.

As thecoalman says, DV AVI of 13.6Gb will be about an hour. Using the max bitrate allowable (about 9,000kbps) this will produce an MPEG2 ready for authoring that'll fit onto one single-layer DVD.

You might find the VideoHelp Bitrate Calculator useful - either for determinig bitrates, or for helping to understand how bitrate and running time affect the file size.

Some ask "Why doesn't the resolution have an affect on the filesize?" - Well, it doesn't directly, but a lower resolution means that you can get away with less bitrate and so end up with a smaller file size for the same running time.

    Hope that helps...

  5. If you are new to dvd authoring (as it sounds) i suggest using a simple to use-user friendly program like Ulead DVD movie factory, it will take a long time as it's encoding stuff when you select burn dvd but it's easy to use.

Windows Movie Maker - Import Video, Drag to timeline, Save to my computer - BEST FIT TO SIZE - and make it about 1 gb - save it to your desktop.
