    Hi,

I want to do the following : extract an audio track from a dvd and add it to an already existing avi file, as an mp3 audio track.

I have managed to extract an AC3 file with 0sex. And when I try to use ffmpegX with ffmpeg-passthrough and using the "add audio..." from the audio tab, I get this:

Encoding started on Sun Jun 12 12:24:53 CEST 2005
ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4736, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
    configuration: --enable-mp3lame --enable-gpl --disable-vhook --enable-ffplay --disable-ffserver --enable-a52 --enable-xvid --enable-faac --enable-faad --enable-amr_nb --enable-amr_wb --enable-pthreads
    built on Jan 7 2005 02:34:06, gcc: 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1666)
    Input #0, avi, from '/Path/to/the/avi/file.avi':
    Duration: 02:57:49.8, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1020 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg4, 640x272, 25.00 fps
    Input #1, ac3, from '/Path/to/the/ac3/file.ac3':
    Duration: 02:57:49.6, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 192 kb/s
    Stream #1.0: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, stereo, 192 kb/s
Could not find input stream #1.1

Can anybody help me out here ?

Until here I only manage it like this: use the "mux as..." button from the tool tab and choose "AVI" in the menu. (There is no audio in the avi at the beginning) and then reencode the muxed avi with ffmpeg-passthrough and audio mp3 encoding.

Isn't there an easier way to do it?

Furthermore, if I want to add *another* audio track (a second one, e.g.), this doesn't work anymore: I just can add the second audio track as ac3 in the avi file, using the "mux as avi+audio" from the tool tab. How should I convert it to mp3 without removing the first audio track?

If anybody could help me out here, I would be very grateful...

    cheers,
    kaz

Adding an audio track to an AVI file is a process named "Muxing". It is possibly difficult to make it simpler than clicking the "Mux as.. AVI" button.

You may try to first convert the ac3 file to mp3 by using the "audio file to mp3" preset.
