  1. I have a video that plays at the wrong aspect ratio only in vlc. In media player classic it plays in correct aspect ratio. when I click 'view -> stream and media info' in vlc it shows resolution as 624x256, gspot says the same thing. When i play the video in vlc it plays in something around 900x200 how can I fix this?

Maybe the video contains an incorrect AR flag that other players simply ignore. I have had this problem in the past with people encoding 4:3 stuff at say 640x480, which would be fine if they didn't also set the PAR as 4:3. If you resize to 1:1 then you don't need to set the AR.

What kind of file is it?

I guess so, however I don't use VLC. But I was able to fix the AR.

How big is the file? If it is under 2GB's, you could remux it, then try MPEG4Modifier.
