Hey there for all you encoders, i got 2 simple questions

I download an avi/wmv file

i use virtual dub to apply 1 filter to it, its an extremely small filter

once i apply the filter i save it compressing it using Divx Codec

My first problem is the rendering rate is soooo slow which i dont know why > it goes 10fps < and i have a new computer and its suppper fast

Second problem is, after its done, the video, in the beginning the voices and video match but then near the end its like a second off.
I dont know why because the video is still like 29 min long and the audio is still 29 minutes long so why doesnt it trail off near the end?

Hopefully someone can help

are you reconverting the audio? under audio->direct stream copy or full processing? try full processing and reconvert to mp3.

and divx encoding is pretty slow. what is your cpu?

Any filter will slow encoding, depending on the settings. Which one are you using? Can you post a screen shot from AVIcodec or Gspot that would show the attributes of the original file? (You can remove the video name)

With the process and type of files you are using, sync problems usually come from bad frames in the video. Bad frames can be cut out with Vdub after scanning for errors. Or it could be related to MP3 VBR audio. Or the sync could have been bad in the first place.

That is the screen shot using avicodec

and to the first reply, i've tried compressing the audio, and it didnt work once..was that just a bad luck try ? it takes about an hour each try, so thats the only reason i'm getting frustrated

i download the video in wmv/avi format, when its wmv i convert it to mpg, and the sound is like half a second off ..then when i use it in virtual dub....i apply the logo away filter, its very small. Afterwards the audio near the end is out of sync, sometimes completely. How do i find the bad "frames" as you were speaking of?
I've used Virtual dub, virtual dub mod, i've tried xvid codec, i've tried divx codec

someone help please lol[/img]

I generally save out the sound as a WAV with VDMod and encode that with Audacity to MP3. Then when I am ready to encode the video to Xvid, I select that MP3 in VDMod, under 'Streams', then encode it all. That solves the problem for me with MP3 VBR audio. Same method if I want to add a MP3 audio to a silent vid.

I'm not seeing your screenshot.

For errors, select 'Scan Video stream for errors' under 'Video'.
I generally use VDMod. When I filter, it often slows to 10 fps. I rarely do long videos, though, mostly short clips.

That's a screenshot of the MPEG. We need one of the original AVI or WMV (which, BTW, are two different things )

What is your final goal here ? VCD ? DVD ?

You might be better off frameserving (if you don't know what that means, try the Glossary to your left) directly to your encoder, so that you don't have to save it out to an intermediate file.

P.S. My eyes said to say "@#$% you" for that ridiculously small screenshot too !

Use JPG, and at least make it readable
If in doubt, Google it.
