  1. Please help. I installed the Audigy 2 ZS and now lose 30-50 frames a min. trying to capture DV with my onboard firewire. I can capture with no frame loss using S video to video card. I have updated sound card drivers, moved sound card to another PCI slot, and reformated my hard drive. When I remove the Sound card and drivers I can capture with Firewire with no problems. Any ideals or direction would be very helpful.

    Thank you.

    Im using:
    Asus P4PE
    Pent 4 2.4
    1GB Mem
    9700 AIW
Audigy 2 ZS (was using onboard sound)

Did you disable the onboard sound in your BIOS settings? I don't know if that would help but possibly since that's the most comon mistake people make when installing a new soundcard.

  3. thecoalman thanks for the reply. Yes I have disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS. Have you heard of anything like this happening because of new hardware?
    Thanks again for the help.

I'd imagine the soundcard is sucking up a resource that either the HD needs or the onboard firewire, that's just a guess. Check to see that the HD is still running in DMA mode. start>control panel>system>hardware>device manager>.......

  5. thecoalman, I checked DMA settings and they were cool. I went out and bought a PCI firewire card and all is working now. Must be something on my computer thats not set correctly but Ive been at this too long to care now. I would really like to thank you for looking into this for me. You don't know how many other places Ive checked. Anyways thanks again!!!

  6. Something else you could have tried is moving the sound card to a different PCI slot. Perhaps there's an IRQ (interrupt request) conflict?
