I transferred a tape to DVD all is good except that when people are speaking there is a pop/hiss background noise that goes along with the voices it is never heard otherwise...is there anyway to clean that up? I have tried Goldwave, but it does not seem to be working very well. Any suggestions of filters/programs would be appreciated.

if you have a lot of money to spend check out the Waves Restoration bundle. X-Noise is a fantastic plugin

Hi wheezer210,
I had a recent audio problem that wasn't dissimilar to yours (in terms of audio).
Another forum user very kindly worked on my 39 second clip for me using Steinberg Clean. Other tools were used (Goldwave, Audacity, Adobe Audition, Sound Forge) - with varying results. And some more tools were suggested.
In the end, the work done in Steinberg Clean with a "touch up" in Sound Forge produced the best result.
I looked into getting a hold of Steinberg Clean and, if I remember rightly, the advertising blurb said it's aimed at / good for cleaning up audio pops an hiss.
