    Hi,

I’ve removed an ac3 channel out of a DVD and remain only DTS. After burning t to DVD-r I cant hear sound on 3 different DVD player but when playing on the PC its ok.

I tried to lat with the setting of the DVD player with no success.

Any idea what I can do to save this DVD content?

    Thanks

  2. Hi-

    1. Buy yourself an audio receiver or DVD player that can decode DTS. Or:
    2. Convert the DTS on the DVD to AC3 and then stick it into the DVD (not for the faint hearted).

Go back to the original and process it again, this time keeping the AC3 audio instead.

Most DVD players do not decode DTS, they output the digital stream to an amp that decodes it instead. Helps keep licensing and therefore end-user costs down.

The DVD spec actually says that DTS should not be the default audio and should not be track one. Some older players may choke on a disk that has been authored with only DTS audio in track one.

  4. Hi guns1inger-

Yes, that's the obvious answer, of course. It's so obvious I concluded that for one reason or another it wasn't an option for samifox, so I didn't bother mentioning it.

Yes, true, but I have one, and I see a few others being advertised with that feature.

Now that I didn't know. Learn something new every day. Thinking back on the one time that I converted DTS to DD 5.1 (it was a full bitrate DTS track, took up way too much space at 1.3 GB, and there wasn't a DD 5.1 track available), there was also a DD 2.0 track.

    Hi guys,

I don’t have the original ace file anymore. it seems like I should convert the DTS to ace.and re-burn it.

    How can I do it?

    Thanks

  6. Hi-

    How can I do it?

I can only tell you how I did it. First I installed WinDVD Platinum, as it had some needed filter. Then I used BeSweet to decode the DTS into 6 Mono WAV files. Then I used SoftEncode to convert the 6 Mono WAV files into a new DD 5.1 AC3. The only problem I had was that the channel order when going from DTS to 6 WAVs was different than when doing DD 5.1 to 6 WAVs, and it took me a few tries to figure out which Mono WAV belonged to which channel.

Other than that, if you search this site and/or Doom9, you should find quite a few threads on the subject.
