I am trying to make a backup dvd. I am able to rip it to the hard drive but when I go to burn it I get a write error everytime. I tried installing firmware 1.19, but honestly don't know if I did it right or if I made things worse. I am attaching the very long message log to see if anyone can help. It seems that the error is coming around #24.

Use DVD Decrypter to make an ISO image of the disc, then use Nero to burn that image.

it could be a buffer underrun ... try reducing the burning speed and see what happens

Why use DVDdecrypter to create an ISO image and then use NERO to burn that image.

I say forget about using Nero for burning and just use DVDdecrypter to burn your DVD's with.

Give it a try and see if it cures the problem !

Sorry I can't figure this out on my own. I'm in Iraq and have limited time on the internet. If I use just dvd decrypter, will that allow a full dvd to fit on a single dvd+r, or do I still need to have a program to reduce the size of the files? Thanks for the help so far.

you will need a program such as dvd shrink to reduce it to a size that can fit on a single disk.

  7. Yes, as stated by the previous post use DVDshrink to compress the DVD.

    The best process is,

    1) Rip the DVD to the hard drive with DVDdecrypter in FILE mode if it is a DVD-9(dual layer) or Rip in ISO mode if it is a DVD-5(single layer).

    2) If compression/re-authoring is required import into shrink and re-author/compress as required, then backup as an ISO image.

    3) Burn the ISO image with DVDdecrypter.

That is absolutely crazy that it was that simple to fix. I have tried Clone and Any DVD, and DVD Shrink and Nero. None of them worked. Finally, DVD Decrypter and Shrink is the right combination. Thanks for everything.
